Name of film: Pusher trilogy
Year released: 2005
Genre of trailer: Crime Thriller
This trailer is full of fast montages throughout. Within these montages there are clips of heavy drug use, violence, woman and sex. Between the montages it fades to black and writing appears on the screen which are reviews from various magazines etc.
A positive of this trailer is the fast montages . When it is slowed down the images shown are quite grueling. As the montage is so fast it is uneasy and it is almost at subliminal speed. The trailer also contains collision cutting as it goes from slow to fast and it contains parallel music. The trailer also gets across the mood of the film. From the trailer we know it is going to be a grim, violent film.
On the other hand it does fail to get across the narrative of the film. This may be due to another negative of that the trailer is that it is too short.
Overall I gave the trailer an eight. It has helped me decide that I will use collision cutting and critique reviews in my trailer as they were used very effectively in this one but, I will not ‘cram’ anything in as it makes the trailer too short and doesn’t clearly set the narrative.
