.Name of film: 30 Days of Night
.Year released:2007
.Genre of trailer: Horror
In the 30 Days of Night trailer we see a small town get attacked by a group of fast moving monsters which I believe to be vampires. In the trailer it often fades to black showing a blank screen with writing on it setting the narrative of the film. This trailer shows a of action and a lot of deaths.
One positive is the initial jump at the start, it is very effective. It is made by using collision cutting. It is all very quiet and then it suddenly cuts to an extremely loud, piercing noise thus resulting in a jump scare. The trailer also uses good building music and it clearly sets the narrative form the start without giving away too much of the film.
On the other hand, the trailer shows little gore. 30 Days of Night is a gory horror but the trailer does not show this. There are a few bits of restricted narration but such little body horror is shown. This will be due to the fact it is a green band trailer so it has to be suitable for all audiences. Another negative is the end of the trailer, another jump is needed to get the point across. Suspense is built but the is no delivery.
Overall I give this trailer an eight. This trailer has helped me decide that I will start my trailer with a jump scare so I hook the audience and then finish with one too as it will be the last thing they see. It will make the trailer more memorable.
